The Dickinson Emergency Department is available 24 hours per day / 7 days per week / 365 days per year. Emergency Medicine trained physicians and staff work closely with other members of the medical staff, who provide call coverage in a variety of medical specialties. In the event an on-call physician is not available in a particular specialty, transfer arrangements are made for you with other regional hospitals and medical centers. In those instances, patient’s are stabilized and transferred for additional medical treatment as needed. Ground EMS, fixed wing air service and a helicopter service are all available to assist in your transport.
The Dickinson Emergency Department triages over 25,000 patients a year to either the Convenient Care Clinic or the Emergency Department dependent on the severity of your illness or injury. This makes DCHS one of the busiest hospitals in the Upper Peninsula.
