I want to take a moment to thank all the healthcare professionals who were involved in repairing my hernia at DHC on April 26. The ACU staff as well as those in the OR, right to the clerks and maintenance staff were so nice, helpful, and couldn't do enough for me or the other patients. My surgeon, Dr. Terrian, took the opportunity beforehand to explain the procedure and honestly, made me feel a though I his only patient.
I'm not sure that the general public realizes how lucky we are to have the DHC system in our area. Kudos to everyone who helped make my short visit to the hospital a positive and very successful one. Sincerely, Tom
I want to express my gratitude for the service that I experienced Saturday night. My son cut his hand while field dressing his first ever buck taken with a bow. From the time we entered the urgent care facility until we left the staff performed with extreme professionalism and I could tell their main objective was to give the best customer care possible. Please pass along my sincere thanks to the team that was working that night. They set the bar at a high level when it comes to treating people as their number one priority. ~Randy
I had blood drawn today at your lab by a young woman named Nicki. She was outstanding. Not only was she professional, but she was very kind and compassionate. She is truly an asset to your hospital. ~Ann
I was seen as an outpatient in the Emergency Department on July 1 - 3, for an infection in my leg.
I just want to commend the Doctors and Staff of the E.D. for their care, compassion, and expertise. These are a superior group of people that truly excel at their chosen profession. I am thankful to all of the people that I came in contact with during this time. Kudos to the Administration for having such a stellar group! ~Pam
Yesterday I brought my very ill 6 year old in to the pediatric office and received amazing care from Sam, Cheryl and Kim. They were patient, kind and were absolutely thorough. Sam called this morning to follow up with me about my daughter and her sincere concern for my daughter's health was reassuring. Thank you to the Peds clinic for amazing care. Unfortunately, my daughter needed to endure the daunting experience of getting bloodwork. She was scared and quite honestly, freaking right out. John K. invited her in and instantly took care of her like he had known her his whole life. He got down to her level and explained what was to be done. He was patient, used humor that she appreciated, and quick. I am thankful for his positive interaction with her as it certainly made her more comfortable under the circumstances. I cannot speak highly enough about our interaction with your employees yesterday. Thank you. - Alicia
I just wanted to share with you my recent experience with the DCHS surgical department. Last week my 4 year old son was scheduled to have a minor surgery with Dr. Donohue and I cannot say enough good things about the wonderful staff. The nurses were absolutely amazing. Never having experienced a surgery before, the nurses made us feel so comfortable and treated our son as if he were the only patient there. They walked us step by step through the entire process until were were completely comfortable. We were very confident that he was in the best hands possible. I was so pleased with the entire staff, I cannot stress enough how truly impressed I am with the level of care at DCHS. - Sarah
I just under went a total hip replacement. I chose to stay in my town to get it done. Everything went great. Absolutely no pain or infection. To all my friends and family in Iron Mtn., there is no reason to leave town. The Surgeons and Staff at DCH are top notch. I was out in 3 days. Robin
On 9-11-15 at 1630 hrs. I made a visit to your Emergency Dept. for a Laceration to my scalp. I was immediately impressed when I walked in the door with a friendly, concerned greeting from two individuals from your staff. Without any wait I was going through the registration process and quickly ushered to a treatment room. Again I was introduced to a nurse and other staff, all who were very friendly made me comfortable and treated me with great professional care. Everyone in your staff that I had eye contact with, smiled and greeted me in a kind way. However, I want to give special mention to Courtney, Donna, Laura P.A., Hilda and Brooke. Each of these fine individuals treated me with a special, friendly kindness, and professional care.
I was walking out the door at 17:45 hrs. with a smile on my face and shaking my head in disbelief at the expert care and attention I received.
Please convey my appreciation to all involved in my treatment.
Thank you so much, Bill
I was in the ER today and I got great, fast care. Please tell the ER staff that they are doing a great job. I'm glad they are there when I need them! Janna
Recently, we had the opportunity to use DCHS’s Cardiac Diagnostic Department with our infant son. This is where we met Sandy, as she administered our son’s echocardiograms when he was 4 months and six months old. We cannot begin to express our sincere appreciation of Sandy, and we feel so grateful that she was there for both tests.
We cannot find the right words to describe how wonderful Sandy was! When our son’s first test was administered, her knowledge and sense of calmness and comfort put us at ease. She was very tender, compassionate and patient with our son, and took extra care to make sure that she took good quality images (even though he was wiggly and fussy). We left the hospital feeling much more relaxed than when we entered, but we also had a sense of peace and happiness knowing that someone took so much pride and care into their job and, subsequently, helping our son.
When we returned for his 6 month appointment, we were beyond thrilled to learn that Sandy would be administering this test as well. She remembered how we were, which meant a lot to us! Her interactions with our son were so gentle and caring, and again, we were put at ease. Sandy must love her job, because that love surely exudes from her smile and mannerisms!
We would like Sandy to know how much we truly appreciate her! Not only is she incredibly intelligent, professional, and great at the technical aspects of her job, she also is phenomenal at the “soft skills” that are related to her craft. Her kindness, patience, compassion, warmth and friendliness (and the list could go on!) are appreciated in a way that she will never know. Thank you for being wonderful, Sandy!
I would be remiss if I did not take the time to advise your readers of the "outstanding" care I recently received at Dickinson County Health System. First of all, my family physician, Dr. Victoria Jakel, MD, saw me in her office, and sent me to admissions at Dickinson hospital, and within five minutes upon arrival, I was in my room. I have never seen any patient admission that efficient. Once in my very well maintained and extremely clean room, the admission registered nurse immediately started my treatment. All the nurses on the second floor were extremely professional, caring and courteous during my entire stay. The lab personnel were also very professional, caring and courteous as well as all the nursing assistants. Special compliments to the fantastic food service staff for the outstanding service and the delicious food three times a day they provided. I was actually able to order off a menu, and had many choices. DCHS housekeeping staff deserve an A+ for the job they do to keep DCHS one of the cleanest hospitals I have ever been a patient in, or visited. Special thanks to Dr. Victoria Jakel, MD and Dr. Paul Hayes, MD for their correct diagnoses and their professionalism. The readers of your publication are very fortunate to have such a well run, well organized and extremely dedicated staff to provide the very best health care possible. I am truly grateful to DCHS for what they have provided me. You do not need to leave Dickinson County for health care. We have the best right here, and if the community supports DCHS, it will continue to grow and just get even better.
Our Mother and Father always remarked what wonderful care they received since moving here from California 11 years ago. They lived all over the world (Dad was career Army) and felt DCH provided them warm, friendly, and caring people.

I had a surgical procedure done today and 2 nurses were extraordinary. I wanted to give them a pat on the back. Pam
I just wanted you to know that when I had surgery on xx-xx-xxxx that the OR staff (Dr.Kube, Sherry, Michelle, Stephanie and Brian) were absolutely fantastic! I was very nervous about the surgery but they really made me feel at ease and took my mind off of the procedure.
Sherry, Michelle, Stephanie and Dr.Kube, thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me which helped calm my nerves before the procedure. Thanks to Brian for making me laugh out loud. Laughter is the best medicine. I appreciate a sense of humor.
What a great experience. You are all top notch!!!
Thanks again, Tina
My husband Richard was recently a patient here and I need your help with a problem we have. I have no idea how to express my gratitude to ALL the people that touched us while we were here for a few days shy of 3 weeks...THANK YOU and HUGS just does not seem enough to let everyone know how much their caring, concern and compassion meant to us. Of course the nursing care was superior...three trips in and out of ICU then to Medical Care...Sue is already aware...but the F.A.N.Staff tried each and every meal to find some delectable to tease my husband into eating. Phil and Chuck in Hyperbarics did all they could to get that unbelievable therapy to him, with remarkable results. The Hospitalist group, especially Ken Friar, John Lin and Troy Alstrom were on top of every aspect of his very complicated course. Amy in Physical Therapy did her utmost best to get his tired body motivated. Even the housekeeping staff cheered him on and gave him hugs routinely. The dialysis group, especially Jan Cummings, worked very hard to get their work done while everyone else was working to get him on the road to home. I also want you to know that during this time he spent a week at another Hospital and whoever said THAT is a "higher level of care" needs to come see us for some lessons in "care". I would really appreciate any suggestions you would have to help us SHOUT OUR HEARTS OUT at EVERYONE here. They all need to know... SINCERELY, -Wendy
I was in intensive care from 8-19 till 8-22 with double pneumonia. I must say that the care I have received in ER and ICU was excellent, everyone took very good care of me. I want to praise especially Dr. Kenneth Friar and nurse Deena Bartelli even though everyone else was taking good care of me too. I live in Kenosha and was vacationing in Armstrong Creek, WI. Thank you!
"I would like to offer a sincere note of appreciation for the highest level of service extended by the Dickinson Memorial Hospital staff during the recent occasion of my Mother's illness and subsequent passing. The hospital's Critical Care Unit was so caring with my mother and so patient and compassionate with my family members. In particular, we appreciated the extra efforts by Darlene in Critical Care. Again, many thanks." - Jean, Tom & Mary and Cindy & Mark
"I had surgery with Dr. Kevin Scott this past Thursday and I was extremely happy from start to finish, the acute care department nurses were outstanding, the operating room nurses and the anesthesiologist staff were phenomenal as well. There was actually some bedside manner and conversations other than the procedure taking place and that made things very easy. I was a previous patient of a different Urologist and he could not carry Dr. Scott's stethoscope when it comes to professionalism and bedside manner. In today's world where you only hear of the negativity and customer complaints, this was a positive experience considering the circumstances. There was no need for me to travel anywhere else for my care, I had several family and friends recommend going to Green Bay and I am very happy I chose DCH...you're a patient here and not just another source of revenue!" - Dave
"I recently completed treatment at the Wound Care center and I am amazed at how well I was treated by their team there. The doctors, nurses, and Chuck in Hyperbarics worked hard to get me from a point of nearly losing my foot to complete healing. I also have to give Carol at the front desk loads of credit of being able to juggle the schedules for me so I could work around my other medical appointments with ACU and now Physical Therapy. She is a wizard in making it all happen. I have a permanent disability with my right foot but thanks to them I can start resuming a normal life again. It is astonishing how professional and yet family like they are with themselves and the patients. I feel confident I can count on them to help me with any other issues I may face in the future." - Brian
"Please convey to your billing staff how happy I have been with the service I have received when trying to organize my husband's bills being paid by our insurances. Everyone that I have worked with has been very kind, professional, helpful and competent. I have worked with other hospitals and your people are head and shoulders above the others in customer service. Keep up the good work, it is not going unnoticed! "- Virginia
"I would like to thank Carolyn ( therapist ) from the speech dept. She was very sweet and kind to me during my testing it's very refreshing to have such good and fast service It's nice to know someone really cares about your concerns Thank you Carolyn for your compassion." - John
"I would like to thank all the nurses in the ACU department and on the medical floor and ICU for their compassion and dedication to helping me in my times of need with antibiotics each day. They are the best medical people I have ever had help me anywhere. They should be commended. They took the time not only to handle my IV meds but also took the time to talk to me as a person and showed they cared about me. I wasn't just their patient but a human being and a friend. I have to say thanks and give them the recognition they often go without getting. KUDOS!!!" - Brian
