Partnership Expands Local Therapy/Rehab Services

Dickinson County - A partnership between Dickinson County Healthcare and U.P. Rehab Services will expand physical, occupational, speech and aquatic therapy services in the Dickinson County region.

“We are excited how our partnership with U.P. Rehab Services will benefit the community and staff,” said Chuck Nelson, CEO of Dickinson County Healthcare System. “The services we will provide together are much stronger than anything we could do on our own. Together, we’ll bring the full spectrum of physical, occupational, speech and aquatic therapy our patients deserve in more locations with an expanded staff using great equipment. UP Rehab Services and Dickinson County Healthcare fit perfectly together.”

Under the partnership, Dickinson County Healthcare Rehabilitation Services will gain two new locations, one in Kingsford next to the high school and one in Niagara Wisconsin. The partnership will also provide the opportunity for additional employment positions.

“The Kingsford location is newly renovated and houses a Hydroworx® aquatic therapy pool with convenient curbside entrances, providing more treatment options and convenient access for our patients,” said Nelson.

UP Rehab Services is a Marquette-based company that currently provides rehabilitation services in 11 Upper Peninsula counties and a wide variety of healthcare settings. Russ Tripp, CEO of U.P. Rehab Services, said, “We are extremely proud to partner with Dickinson County Healthcare and to be able to work toward a shared vision of access, quality and support for our local community.”

The DCH/UP Rehab care team will be led up by two outstanding therapists, Dr. Sara Gunville, PT, DPT, and Tim McGuire, PT, both respected local therapists. Both therapists are excited about the potential. “I am very proud to continue care for area families and support the great medical staff at DCH. I am certain this partnership will expand the services we can provide,” said Dr. Gunville. According to Tim McGuire, “the partnership combines two great teams and will allow us to grow and serve our patients and business partners with best models of injury prevention and care.”

“Combining our dedicated team of therapists, with the experienced staff at U.P. Rehab Services is a tremendous asset to patients,” said Nelson. “By working together, we will be able to provide the best therapy and rehabilitation care possible.”
