2019 Leapfrog Grade A
Dickinson County Healthcare (DCH) was awarded an ‘A’ in fall 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing DCH’s achievements protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care. The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ or ‘F’ grade to all general hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care. Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year.

Dickinson County Healthcare received the Michigan Alliance for Innovation in Maternal Health (MI AIM) Gold Star Award in 2019. MI AIM Gold Star designation recognizes a commitment to improving overall maternal health outcomes. Implementation of the AIM Obstetric Hemorrhage and Severe Hypertension in Pregnancy safety bundles, the DCH OB Department works with other hospitals throughout Michigan to improve the health outcomes. We do this by fully equipping clinical staff in labor and delivery units with the education, equipment, protocols and hands-on training they need to prevent maternal death and to diagnose and treat severe, life-threatening complications that can occur during labor and delivery.
